Direct from the Americas
NOR is a new brand of direct trade specialties of the Americas: Premium quality, fairly priced and with a declared focus on transparency and sustainability, aiming to promote the socio-economic growth of plantation farmers and local communities. With production relationships stretching across Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Bolivia, NOR’s product range is centred around coffee and cocoa, offered as roasted beans, cold brew coffee, cocoa nibs and premium quality chocolate bars.
To help position and launch the brand in a highly competitive market, we worked with NOR on creative direction, visual identity and packaging design.
Steering clear of the often stereotypical and romanticised themes that proliferate the retail landscape, the visual identity celebrates an honest and functional language, free of decoration and veneer. Colours, materials and typographic treatments are sourced directly from the actual places of production, combining the raw aesthetic of standard industrial packaging with the vibrant visual culture of the Americas. The brand is no-nonsense and straightforward, yet with lots of flavour and a striking shelf presence.
NOR products are made by and for people who care about the specifics. Detailed information about origin, quality, processing and refinement is presented front and center on the packaging, further reflecting the ideology behind the business.
